The GetCare Foundation is proud to announce its contribution to the global development research community through active participation in the EADI/IOB 2026 Conference, one of the leading international platforms for development studies, bringing together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and institutions from around the world to explore contemporary development challenges and solutions. Representing the Foundation, Dr. Gyinadu Abubakar, Senior Policy and Research Advisor, presented a research paper titled "Trading Cocoa for Gold: Livelihood Shifts and Agrarian Change in Ghana." The paper examines the growing trend of cocoa farmers converting agricultural land into gold mining sites, analysing the economic, social, and environmental factors driving this transition and proposing practical pathways for balancing agricultural productivity with sustainable resource development.

GetCare Foundation Launches RECLAIM: A Systems-Based Model for Land Restoration and Livelihood Transition in Ghana

GetCare Foundation has officially launched RECLAIM — Restoring Ecosystems and Communities through Land Agroforestry and Inclusive Mining Models, a flagship initiative designed to address one of Ghana’s most pressing development challenges: the intersection of land degradation, informal mining economies, and rural livelihood vulnerability. RECLAIM is not a standalone project. It is a systems-based platform under GetCare’s Rural Economic Transition System (RETS)—an integrated framework that supports communities to move from survival economies to structured and regenerative economies. Through RECLAIM, GetCare Foundation is advancing a scalable model that combines ecological restoration, economic transition, and market-led agricultural development.
