Olga Mapanje
Climate & Agronomic Systems Lead
Olga Davidzo Mapanje is an applied agricultural economist and climate adaptation specialist from Zimbabwe with extensive experience in agricultural resilience, climate finance, and food systems research across Sub-Saharan Africa. With more than five years of combined academic and professional experience, she has developed strong expertise in climate-smart agriculture, climate-risk management, and sustainable food systems.
Olga is currently pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Economics at the University of Pretoria, where her research focuses on index-based insurance and farmers’ preferences for climate-risk financing mechanisms. Her doctoral work and field experience provide a strong analytical foundation for designing evidence-based interventions that strengthen the resilience of smallholder farmers.
She has worked with a range of international and regional institutions including the Chr. Michelsen Institute (Norway), the African Centre for a Green Economy (South Africa), COMESA, Oxfam, YOUNGO, and several academic institutions across Africa. Her work spans climate adaptation planning, climate information services, agricultural policy research, value chain assessments, and stakeholder capacity building. Olga has also contributed to the development of grant proposals, technical reports, policy briefs, and peer-reviewed publications on climate change, agricultural development, and food security.
At GetCare Foundation, Olga serves as the Climate & Agronomic Systems Advisor, where she provides technical guidance on climate adaptation, agronomic planning, sustainable inputs systems, regenerative agriculture, and evidence-based program design. Her expertise strengthens the Foundation’s agricultural projects and contributes to the development of climate-resilient, productivity-enhancing solutions for farming communities. She also supports program development, monitoring, learning, and strategic engagement with partners and stakeholders.
Olga is passionate about advancing equitable and resilient food systems, empowering rural communities, and promoting innovative climate solutions that secure the livelihoods of smallholder farmers across Africa.
